For Miklos Boros, everyday events and living situations provide him with the basis for his photographic works, which he conceives mostly in the form of series and realises over a long project period. He focuses his artistic attention on human beings and their personal surroundings.

For Stranded, Boros spent two years photographing the professional and private everyday life of an Austrian go-go-dancer and single mother. In both contexts, the photographs capture two completely different living conditions of an almost 30-year-old woman in an authentic and unpretentious way. Boros’ attention is directed at certain situations, views, gestures, details, rooms and constellations. His claim is neither moralising nor commenting. Instead, his documentary approach results in a narrative quality, which above all starts to occupy the space between the pictures. In this intermediate area, the level of meaning emerges that marks the entire project and, as sharply as a razor blade, cuts a living situation out of anonymity and a woman out of the status of the available object. In addition, Miklos Boros links the Stranded project with his own biography: so he combines the living conditions of the woman and her commitment to the children with memories of his own family history in the late 1980s and his own background as an immigrant.
