Kurt Lackner’s artistic works, above all collages and photographs, are realised with and through his archives, which have increased over the years and for which he collects his own and strange pictures, texts and objects. One of his focuses is the reference to the world wars.

With the themes memory and recollection, he also carries out interviews with contemporary witnesses. For his artistic diary, Kurt Lackner has ordered the most important photographs taken in the last 15 years in a way that produces two opposing movements: each snapshot has frozen a piece of his own past world. Through their unchronological, aesthetic and exciting presentation in the style of fanzines, these fixated moments develop dynamics that reveal an individual view of the world. In the selection, taken in 2010 in retrospect, each individual picture comments on the experiences. In addition, the sequence of the pictures also results in cross references, associations and also some kind of a self-construction from a relative distance. The individual perception and the self-perception are conveyed together with the knowledge that a fiction arises from the subjective documentations on leafing through the pages and times. The autobiographical book shows a stage of life as a flow of images on which you travel, as captain or tourist, in which you reflect yourself and whose best moments glitter in the foam. The most important impressions – artistic, fateful, ordinary ones – will mark the perception of all those to come.
